Girls, it’s important to keep your “tools” clean, so here’s a tutorial on how to clean your makeup brushes, especially if you have expensive ones and you want to enjoy them as much as possible. Also, a brush packed full of makeup is not going to do the job it was designed to do.
Here’s what you should do:
Step 1: You can use a professional brush shampoo. If you don’t have one, you can easily replace it with normal hair shampoo, even with shower gel. Use only cold water. Hot water may dissolve the glue that holds the bristles together.
Step 2: Dip the brush in the shampoo or a solution of water and shampoo and rub it gently in the palm of your hand.
Step 3: After doing this with all of your brushes, wash your hands then rinse the brushes. Always pull the brushes downwards (from the neck, where the bristles are held together, to the tip of the brush), not upwards, to prevent the water from coming in the neck of the brush. If water gets in there it’s going to loosen the glue. Rinse them well, rub the brushes in the palm of your hand, to get all the soap/shampoo out of the bristles. Squeeze them from the neck, downwards. Make sure you have removed any excess soap. You want your brushes clean, not sticky.
Step 4: You cand use a hair conditioner on your brushes, exactly like you use it on your hair. While applying the conditioner, reshape the brush. After some minutes, rinse well. You’ll fell your brushes very silky, as you want them.
Step 5: Lay the brushes on a clean towel to dry. You can squeeze them against the towel, to get out as much moist as you can. Remember! Only downward movements, from the neck to the tip of the brush. Cover the brushes with the towel, so that no dust or other contaminations can come in contact.
Enjoy your silky smooth brushes!
